Honeybee

 Happy October Honeybees!

We are finally welcoming cooler weather, and we couldn't be more excited about it. Our Creō campus has been buzzing with activity as the students spend time in their outdoor environments, go on nature walks, or simply enjoy the fresh air.

As a class, we're finally breaking out our famous stroller to go on class picnics, along with a few morning walks. The infants love to explore nature, finding joy in the sights, sounds, and textures around them! The leaves blowing in the wind, the subtle dew in the winter grass, and the sounds of birds singing are all great sensorial experiences for the children. This exposure to nature easily nurtures their curiosity and helps them appreciate the world. Being in nature fosters a lasting connection to the environment, which they will further explore in the Toddler Outdoor Environment!

As the weather continues to cool down, we will be sending home any summer clothes to swap out with something more weather-appropriate! Jackets, long pants, and socks will keep the infants warm and cozy during our outdoor time.

Thank you for your continued support for our classroom! We look forward to the rest of the school year with our Honeybee familia!

Hello, Fall!

We are receiving this wonderful weather with open arms and ready to embrace every bit of it. We are so lucky that we able to enjoy the outdoors with the children throughout most of this change in weather.

With this change in weather, unfortunately, we experience a rise of colds, coughs, and much more. Please keep your children a home if they are experiencing fevers and aggressive changes in health. It is helpful to stay up to date with who is out with what so please shoot me and email if your child is home sick. It is also helpful to the front office staff, one less phone call to be made. (:

We are welcoming this new season with baking corn bread. A few simple ingredients to get the children to pour in all into one mixing bowl, on their own. This allows the children to bake independently as much as possible. We first show the children to pour in all dry ingredients and stir those by themselves. Once those ingredients are well mixed, they pour in the wet ingredients and we help stir those in well. Down below is the recipe!

Thank you all who signed up for conferences. Its always nice to touch base in person and talk about the differences we see at home vs. school. If you have not been able to sign up because the dates don’t fit your schedule, reach out to me so we can arrange a conference at another time and date.

Thank you for all you do.

Warmly,

Ms. Rebeca and Ms. Daisy

Hummingbird

Dear Hummingbird Familia,

October has flown by! One of the class’s favorites was being able to investigate all kinds of real pumpkins and gourds. The children explored the pumpkins and gourds textures, smells, and sounds. They enjoyed using their maximum effort to carry and lift the very large and heavy pumpkin from the shelf to their worktable and back onto the shelf.  Most of all we were so excited to be able to carve open one of our large pumpkins and see inside!

It is the time of year when the weather starts to get cooler. As the temperatures get colder, we will be wearing jackets more often, which is a wonderful time for the children to practice the Montessori coat flip! The coat flip encourages the children to learn to put their jackets on by themselves by setting the jacket on a table or floor with the tag at their feet, then they can put their hands through part of the sleeves and flip the jacket over their heads. It’s a fun way to put on their jackets!

Along with putting on their jackets, we can let the children take off their jackets as much as they can by themselves. If they need some help, we usually pull a slight amount of the zipper or sleeve just enough so they can grip zipper or sleeve of the jacket so they can pull the rest of the zipper down or sleeves off of their body. Sometimes adding a ring to the zipper helps the children use a firmer grip to pull it down more easily.

Lastly, we will be having a community meeting in the middle of November and an email with more details will be sent out soon. Thank you for all of your trust and support with your precious children. We look forward to seeing them gain further independence.

Warmly,

Ms. Kat and Ms. Dafne

Hola Familias!

We are so excited for the cooler weather as it means more outdoor time and having more dressing opportunities such as with jackets and sweaters!

This month we have focused on caring for our environment, our Practical Life area has gotten a lot of love and attention this month. The children look for the broom when they see crumbs on the floor to sweep! They are quick about finding the mop or if that is not available, they get a towel to help their friend clean the spill.

Our plants have been cared for in many ways such as watering, dusting the leaves and even wiping the leaves! The plants are so beautiful growing strong thanks to our community 💚

All these materials encourage independence and through allowing them to choose the work on their own they are developing their will, by doing the work they are refining their coordinated movements. As they gain satisfaction to do the task independently this will have an impact on their confidence.

Their work might be to water the plants, but they are developing so much more than just caring for our environment.

Thank you to you all for taking the time to come to our conference! I love spending time with you all as we talk about your child and their development.

As the weather cools down, please make sure to change out their extra clothes with long sleeves and/or pants. Also, make sure the bottoms are a loose fit for the children to pull them down and up for undressing. Setting them up for success in their toileting as well!

Thank you for your continued support and trust!
