November 2024

Honeybee

Hello Honeybee familia,

We are so excited to start welcoming winter weather as November settles in. There is a lot to celebrate and lots to enjoy!

We have built up a strong community through the past few months as the school year progresses. Watching each milestone is never anything short of exciting! In a few weeks, we are celebrating our community by hosting a classroom social on December 10. Please look out for an email with details!

Because the weather is cooling down quickly, be sure to take care of you and your family. Vitamins, warm jackets, and plenty of rest are vitals for having a healthy season!

As the temperature drops further, we will be sending home any summer clothes to swap out with something more weather-appropriate! Jackets, long pants, and socks will keep the infants warm and cozy during our outdoor time.

Thank you for your continued support for our classroom! We look forward to the rest of the school year with our Honeybee familia!

Please reach out to Susan@creoschool.org or Nido@creoschool.org for any questions or comments.

With love,

 The Honeybee Team 💌

Ms. Susan, Ms. Maria, & Ms. Roseanna

Hello All,

We are beginning to see some cold weather, Finally! As I mentioned last month, please remember to send an extra set of clothes with your child. Now that it is getting cold and we use water in the classroom often, we try our best to change them out of their wet clothes as soon as we can in order to avoid illness.

Just a reminder that our Level Social will be coming up next month. Be on the lookout for more information from our Parent Coordinators. Thank you to Judith, Michael and Erika for taking on the duties of Parent Coordinators and getting everything situated and organized. Your help is genuinely appreciated.

Thank you to those who made it out last week for our monthly Community Meetings. It’s always a joy to hear your perspective and your experiences in raising a Toddler. Our next Community Meeting will be held next semester with a new topic and we will review a little about what we talked about this month- Language and Positive Discipline.  This month we baked bagels AND Yogurt cake (we ordered a bit too much yogurt and didn’t want it to go to waste). All the ingredients that are needed for baking are placed on a tray, big enough for everything to fit in one space and each ingredient is in its own dish and pre-measured. Small containers are easily accessible online from Amazon, Montessoriservices.com, World Market, and so many more. Give me a shout if you would like more guidance on baking at home. I know it makes for a warm and memorable gift to bake for your loved ones with your children.

Warmly,

Ms. Rebeca & Ms. Daisy

Hummingbird

Dear Hummingbird Families,

We have welcomed a new friend to our classroom, Zara! The children have been showing her around and practicing being courteous and graceful toward her as she learns about our classroom culture. The children are more comfortable with expressing themselves and have enjoyed each other’s presence in class. They lend each other a hand when needed and care for one another when they get hurt. It is heartwarming to observe their kind gestures towards each other.

At our last community meeting, we discussed how to prepare food in the kitchen with toddlers. We had a display of toddler-friendly kitchen tools that may be helpful to have on hand. We answered a few questions regarding food and presented a cheese-grating lesson with one of our parents. We hope that parents feel encouraged to let their children practice food prepping. For food prep in the classroom this month, the children got a chance to bake bagels, peel/slice carrots, grate cheese, and slice pears.

Each day we strive to help the children move closer to building their independence by giving them the time and space they need to attempt and practice the hard work in class. We are by their side to guide them and to observe their ever-changing needs. These experiences have made our friendships stronger and closer.  We hope to see everyone at our social in December so we can get some time to relax and share some quality time before the long winter break. More details to come.

Thank you for all of your support,

Ms. Kat and Ms. Dafne

Squirrel

Hello Squirrel Families!

I wanted to thank everyone who came to our community meeting, it was great to chat with you all and had lots of fun baking and preparing snacks as your children do in class!

With more information about our topic, I wanted to share this beautiful video of a child setting the table as we would in the classroom.

The children love to feel part of the community through food preparation and setting the table for lunch. We had a friend bring squash, pumpkin, and sweet potato fresh from their farm! The children had fun seeing what was inside and chopping it to bake!

As we enjoy the colder weather, it comes with runny noses and coughs. We recommend your child stays home to rest if the present flu or cold symptoms. Friendly reminder: State regulations require that you wait 24 hours after vomiting, diarrhea, or a fever over 100 degrees (without fever reducing medication) has subsided before bringing your child back to school.

Here is a quick calendar reminder:

  • December 3nd book fair!

  • December 10th Winter Social 5pm-6pm

  • December 20th Half Day dismissal at 11:45am Toddlers bring lunch!
