Honeybee

💛 ¡Hola familias abejitas! 🐝

I want to start by thanking everyone who signed up for our conferences! I truly value the time we get to sit down and speak in detail about your child’s development. It is such a joy to share their growth and discoveries with you in person.

This month, our focus has been on Baby Led Weaning. Many parents hear “weaning” and think it means stopping breastmilk or formula, but this stage is all about introducing foods not replacing them. In the first year, food is truly an educational tool. Babies explore textures, tastes, and colors while continuing to receive their main nourishment from breastmilk or formula.

If you are beginning this journey, I highly recommend checking out Solid Starts. It is a wonderful resource I personally used when my son began exploring solids, filled with great guidance and visuals for safe and confident feeding.

We are also so excited to share our joy from the Esperanza Foundation project! Thank you to everyone who supported this cause. Each year this event brings our community together through delicious food, beautiful themes, and lively dancing. If you could not make it this time, there is always next year and trust me, it is always a celebration to look forward to!

As we enter the holiday season, please let us know if your child will be away from school so we can plan accordingly. And remember to be gentle with yourself during this busy time. All the new decorations, visitors, and events can shift your child’s sense of order. It is normal for them to feel a little “off.” Babies are deeply aware of changes around them, so include them in the experience by narrating what is happening. A simple “We are putting up lights today” or “There will be music and people visiting” can make all the difference in helping them feel secure and connected.

Thank you for being such an amazing part of our Nido community. Watching your little ones grow, explore, and discover the world is the heart of what we do!

With warmth and gratitude,

💛 Ms. Nadia, Ms. Luz and Ms. Lucy

Butterfly

Butterfly Classroom – October Blog 🦋

This month, our Butterfly friends have been busy learning, creating, and collaborating in true Montessori spirit! The children have been deeply engaged in hands-on work that encourages concentration, independence, and care for their environment.

One of our biggest highlights has been preparing for our upcoming Charity Gala, benefiting the Esperanza Charity Foundation, happening Saturday, November 1st at 6 PM at the Main Campus. The children have been hard at work contributing to our classroom auction project — a beautiful homemade cornhole set!

With care and focus, the children sanded down the wooden boards, preparing them for painting and play. They also helped fill the soft, colorful bean bags lovingly sewn by one of our wonderful classroom parents. It has been special to see their pride and teamwork shine through as they worked together to create something for such a meaningful cause.

Also, I want to send a huge thank you to our amazing classroom parents – Amanda (and her mom!), Michael, Krystal, and Christian- for lending their time, creativity, and helping hands with this project. We couldn’t have done it without your support and generosity!

As we move into November, we look forward to more opportunities for the children to explore, create, and contribute — both within our classroom and beyond it. We are so proud of their efforts and can’t wait to share their finished project at the gala!

With gratitude and love,

Ms. Daisy & Ms. Rebeca 💛

Hummingbird

Happy Fall Hummingbird Familia,

The children have been practicing all that they have observed since the start of the school year. Everyone has grown so much and made lots of progress in their development. This month, we welcomed a new friend and family to our Hummingbird class. Join us in giving a warm welcome to Beckham and his family. He recently moved up from the Nido classroom.

We have been enjoying the cooler temperatures outside so much! As the temperatures get colder, we will be wearing jackets more often, which is a wonderful time for the children to practice the Montessori coat flip! The coat flip encourages the children to learn to put their jackets on by themselves by setting the jacket on a table or floor with the tag at their feet, then they can put their hands through part of the sleeves and flip the jacket over their heads. It’s a fun way to put on their jackets!

Along with putting on their jackets, we can let the children take off their jackets as much as they can by themselves. If they need some help, we usually pull a slight amount of the zipper or sleeve just enough so they can grip the zipper or sleeve of the jacket, so they can pull the rest of the zipper down or sleeves off of their body. Sometimes adding a ring to the zipper helps the children use a firmer grip to pull it down more easily.

For food prep this month, the children have been baking corn bread, slicing cheese and apples, and spreading sunflower seed butter on crackers. We share the children’s prepared food either during snack time or lunch time. Food prep activities involve lots of steps, which helps the children to develop their concentration. The children develop a sense of belonging through contributing their prepared food to the class, which helps to build up their confidence.

Lastly, we will have a community meeting in mid-November, and an email with more details will be sent out soon. Thank you for all of your trust and support with your precious children. We look forward to seeing them gain further independence.

 Warmly,

Ms. Kat and Ms. Lenni

Squirrel

Happy October families!

This month has been filled with hard work and lots of fun. With fall break, we have been getting back into the groove of the classroom’s routine and have been continuing with the many friends who have started their toileting journey!

This month we have loved the amazing weather Arizona has been giving us! No more red-hot faces after recess time! The grass in the playground has gotten fuller and taller which the children have been very interested in, and we have heard them talk about the grass and how it has changed. With the cooler weather, some jackets have been brought into class which is always fun to the children. Having them learn how to take off the jacket, hang it on the hook and getting to put it back on! One of the ways Montessori is known for is how to put on a jacket, and the notorious  flip over the head which the children have enjoyed.

We got to bake corn bread this month, and the children loved being able to crack an egg and pouring all the ingredients that went into the corn bread. We also had lemons to squeeze and apples to slice, watching the children’s sour faces while trying lemon juice was too cute to see.

I have been looking forward to seeing you parents in the classroom and to having the time to sit and talk about your child’s progresses they have made while in Squirrel. I want to thank you all for coming into the classroom quietly and quickly to ensure that the children’s concentration is protected and can’t wait to meet with you all!

It is so wild that October is almost over, and I hope and know that we will do great things in November!

With many thanks,

Squirrel Team
