Honeybee

Hola Honeybee Familias!

With the cooler weather just around the corner, please remember to send a light jacket once our weather cools down, for our outdoor walks so your little ones stay comfy. And as always, a friendly reminder to label everything, it really helps us keep track of your child’s belongings.

I’ll be out for Fall Break soon, so if you need immediate support during that time, please email admin@creoschool.org

A big thank you to all the parents who attended our recent Community Meeting! It was wonderful sharing and connecting with you. For those who couldn’t make it, I was happy to share my notes, so you didn’t miss out. One of the topics we discussed was rephrasing “good job.”

Although it can take a little more thought, describing what you actually see your child doing is far more meaningful than simply saying “good job.” This small shift supports children in developing internal pride and self-motivation rather than relying only on external praise.

Here are some baby-focused examples:

  • Instead of saying “Good job crawling,” you could say “You moved all the way across the mat to reach the toy.”

  • Instead of saying “Good job standing,” you could say “You pulled yourself up on the shelf and are standing on your own.”

  • Instead of saying “Good job eating,” you could say “You picked up the banana piece with your fingers and put it in your mouth.”

These small changes go a long way in helping even our youngest children begin to recognize their own effort, persistence, and discoveries.

In the classroom, we’ve also been focusing on offering new opportunities for movement. We have several babies preparing to take their very first steps, and the pushcart has been a huge help for practicing walking! We’re also encouraging plenty of rolling, scooting, and beginning to sit independently. It’s such a joy watching the children grow stronger and more confident every single day. Their progress truly amazes me!

I’m excited for all the milestones this new season will bring! Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support.

Warmly,

💛 Ms. Nadia, Ms. Luz and Ms. Lucy

Butterfly

Butterfly Classroom Monthly Buzz 🦋

The Butterfly Classroom has been buzzing with excitement as the children settle beautifully into our morning routines. Drop-offs have become smooth and cheerful, and it’s wonderful to see how confidently the children are starting their days!

This month, our little chefs have been busy with hands-on food preparation. From slicing bananas and peeling eggs to spreading sunflower butter on crackers, the children are developing independence, fine motor skills, and a love for helping out.

With the mornings turning a bit cooler, the outdoor environment has been a favorite spot for exploration and play. It’s been amazing to watch the children fully engage, get into the flow of activities, and support each other in creative ways. Teamwork, friendship, and curiosity are thriving!

A special highlight was our Peace Day celebration on September 19. The gym was filled with the joyful voices of our children singing “Peace Like a River” and it was truly a heartwarming moment of togetherness.

As a friendly reminder, Fall Break will be from October 6–13, with school resuming on October 14. During Fall Break, All Day All Year will still be in session. We hope everyone enjoys some fun, rest, and family time—we can’t wait to see all of our butterflies back, ready for more adventures on October 14!

With love,

Ms. Daisy & Ms. Rebeca

Hummingbird

Dear Hummingbird familia,

Since the beginning of the school year, the children have been becoming well-versed in the daily routine and growing their friendships with each other every day. We have seen lots of progress since the first day of school. They have been learning how to work at the worktables, with rugs on the floor, prepare themselves a snack, and use the bathroom to change their diaper/clothes, or use the toilet. Most of the children are learning to respect each other's work and how to observe others working. Also, please join me in giving a warm welcome to our new students this month Callum and Avery!

Every year, we participate in a Peace Day celebration with the whole school. Every day, the children enjoyed practicing the Peace Day songs in both Spanish and English using hand gestures. Peace Day was celebrated in the gym, and it is always so magical to witness the children singing along in both languages.

We have been so eager about the weather getting slightly less hot because the Outdoor Environment is open to the children during the morning work cycle. Ms. Susan has been working with the children in the Outdoor Environment when the temperatures are under 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, the children have been enjoying using the playground equipment, like the slide, tricycles, and sandbox. Our playground has lots of hills that are fun to run up and down, and to roll the balls down.

Coming up next month are the Fall Parent-Teacher conferences. For toddlers, we will be having our conferences in the morning. The Fall conference offers a unique experience of observing in the classroom as well. Typically, we schedule this to begin at 8:45am with the conferences following immediately after at 9am. During conferences, parents can ask more detailed questions and get more information regarding your child’s development.  Please be on the lookout for the email to sign up for a conference slot. We hope you have safe travels and enjoy family time during fall break!

Warmly,

Ms. Kat and Ms. Lenni

Squirrel

Hello families,

In September, we have been quite the hard workers. With repetition, we have been able to create a foundation for the classroom’s routine that guides us throughout the day and gives the child the confidence to look out to the world around them and explore!

During this month, we have been interested in baking, they have loved the process of making banana bread this month. Enjoying it over snack together, you can see them being proud of the meal that they have created and appreciated being able to share it as a community in class.

With some morning being cooler, we have been able to enjoy being outside more during this month. They are thrilled to see the outdoor environment being available and love working outside with Ms. Susan. They have been watering the plants that are growing in the bins, wash away some elements that are left on the sidewalk, and being able to have more freedom of movement outside of class!

Many of our friends in class have made the anticipated transition into toileting. This is an amazing step into the child’s independence and allows the child to gain a new skill! They are sharing this new experience together and are happy when are friends are successful in this new challenge!

In this month we are seeing new faces and saying goodbye to ones who have been in Squirrel for some time:

Madeline and Alan are making their exciting move into their Children’s House classroom! It is bittersweet to see them leave as we love getting to see them and are so thankful for their help with the younger friends.

We have also welcomed are new friend Ayaan! He is a sweet boy who we know will do great things while in the Squirrel Classroom and we are excited for him to be with us for the school year!

We have also welcomed are new assistant Ms. Alina! She started in late September, and it has been a pleasure having her apart of our class. Ms. Alina’s bio on the Creo website will be coming in the next week or so. She has had a warm welcome from the children, and they have look towards her for a helping hand and lots of great conversations!

We have loved continuing the great fresh beginnings and have put in hard work here in the Squirrel Classroom.

With great appreciation,

Ms. Morgan and Ms. Alina
