Honeybee

Hello Honeybee Families! 🐝

I am so thrilled to be part of this community, and we are already off to an amazing start! As we all acclimate to the beginning of the school year, our focus has been on getting to know each baby individually. Even though some of our little ones are the same age, they each have their own unique rhythms and schedules. As a team, we are excited to meet every child exactly where they are developmentally and to support them in their growth.

It has been such a joy to watch the babies get to know us, sharing smiles, giggles, and babbles. Some have begun saying more words, while others are growing more confident in their steps and building their gross motor skills. In this stage of life, so much happens in such a short amount of time. From one day to the next, they surprise us with new skills!

I encourage you to take moments at home to simply observe and connect with your baby. These small moments of attention make a world of difference. They have so much to communicate with us through their movements, sounds, and expressions.

Thank you for your trust and support as we partner together in your child’s developmental journey. We are truly a team in this work.

With many exciting events ahead, I would also love your input as we prepare for our first community meeting in September. Please feel free to email me any topics you would like us to cover so I can best support you and your family.

Friendly Reminders

• Please label containers with first and last name as well as AM snack, lunch, and PM snack

• Please label all clothing items

• If your baby is walking, please bring a pair of shoes

Snack Calendar

As our babies grow and begin eating more food, we now have a snack calendar posted by our classroom door. This calendar will change each month and includes snacks that we can provide if your child seems to need a little more food. You are welcome to let us know if there are snacks your child cannot have or if you would like to agree to the snacks we provide. This also helps prepare them for the toddler room where they will enjoy a similar snack routine.

Warmly,

💛 Ms. Nadia, Ms. Luz and Ms. Lucy

A Wonderful Start To Our New School Year

We’ve just wrapped up our first month of the new school year, and what a joy it has been! The classroom was full of energy and curiosity as we welcomed new children, adjusted to fresh routines, and built connections with one another.

This first month, the children have spent a lot of time exploring food preparation and baking. From stirring batter to carefully pouring ingredients, they have shown such excitement and pride in their work. These practical life activities are more than just fun-they foster independence, responsibility, and collaboration while bringing us together as a community.

Keep an eye on Transparent Classroom for updates, photos, and important information throughout the school year. In September, we have two exciting events coming up:

- Community Meetings

- Peace Day Celebration

Photos from our Peace Day Celebration will be shared on Transparent Classroom, so be sure to check in and enjoy those precious moments with us. We are looking forward to celebrating these special days together!  You can also follow us on social media (Facebook Familia and Instagram).

On a personal note, I am so excited to begin this school year as your classroom lead guide. Over the past three years, I've had the privilege of working closely with Ms. Rebeca as her assistant, learning from her experience, wisdom, and love for Montessori education. She has been an incredible mentor to me, and I feel so grateful to continue working alongside her in this new role. We are looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and many precious moments together. It is truly an honor to guide and nurture your children on their Montessori journey.

 With love,

Ms. Daisy & Ms. Rebeca

Hummingbird

Dear Hummingbird familia,

The new school year is off to an amazing start! The children and teachers are enjoying getting to know each other, and our routines are becoming more established each day. All the exposure to rich environments that we can provide to the children helps nurture their absorbent minds. The child from 0-3 years old absorbs everything within their environment unconsciously and effortlessly, like a sponge absorbing water or a camera capturing a picture.  Observation is one of the most valuable tools we have to learn about our surroundings. Through observation, the children are learning, which is considered “work”.

We, as caregivers, can help support the development of the children’s absorbent minds by providing rich sensory environments, encouraging exploration and repetition, modeling language skills, and promoting practical life activities. Along with having an absorbent mind, the children go through sensitive periods. Sensitive periods are a stage in which the child has a heightened ability to be receptive to certain stimuli that can help them acquire a skill. Both the absorbent mind and sensitive periods support one another to aid in the child’s development.

At home, we can create a setting that the children can experience through their senses, like touching textures (soft, rough, cold, hot, wet, dry), listening to different noises (birds, dogs, vehicles), etc. We can encourage exploration by following the child’s interests and giving them space to explore at their own pace. Through repetition, the child will be able to clarify and master the skill. Within each experience, we can provide the children with a rich vocabulary and language. We can promote practical life activities by inviting and engaging our children in daily household tasks, such as cooking, cleaning (wiping up spills, putting dishes away), and collaborating with getting dressed. These practical life skills enable children to gain essential life skills while developing independence and self-confidence.

We follow the child and help the child to do it by themselves over a period of time. Sensitive periods are stretches of time during which the child is drawn to activities/experiences that aid them in developing a specific characteristic or skill. The children are sensitive during a period of time and if that time is not present than it becomes more effort for the child and the adult. During sensitive periods, the child will be attracted to the materials spontaneously, selectively, and deeply passionate, which is when we can connect them to activities that help to fulfill their needs. Once the child acquires the necessary skills for their development, then that particular sensitive period diminishes naturally.

Our role is to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment that aligns with the child’s absorbent mind and their sensitive periods. We make positive efforts to connect them to the environment, which aids them in being able to better adapt to their surroundings. With consistent experience the children will acquire all the culture and skills they need to develop their identities.

We are looking forward to a few events in September. First, we will have a community meeting on Wednesday September 17th at 5:30 PM. Community meetings are for parent education, in which teachers provide parents with resources that can support you and your child through their development. There will be more details on the specific topic in a couple of weeks. The next event is the Peace Day celebration. It is a tradition at Creo to celebrate Peace Day every year with the whole school. We ask that you send your child in either a Peace Day shirt or white T-shirt on Friday September 19th. We will celebrate in the gym with the rest of the school, and I will post pictures of the class celebrating on Transparent Classroom.

We feel so grateful to be in your child’s lives every day and cherish each moment with them. Thank you for all your unwavering support and trust in us. We are so eager to see everyone blossom throughout the semester.

 Warmly,

Ms. Kat and Ms. Lenni

Squirrel

Hello Squirrel families,

August is the perfect month for catching up with old friends, meeting new faces, and getting to know who and what is in your environment. With the new school year, we have been curious on what the person next to us was into. If they like the same things as us, and what makes us different! When collaborating, you can observe those who speak kind to their friends. The older and returning children are modeling this behavior on how to interact with one another and have been a great support to those who are having big feelings starting new.

During our work cycle, we gravitate towards caring for the environment. Whether that be cleaning a spill, watering the plants and cleaning their leaves or even cleaning, watering and feeding our bird! (Any name recommendations would be amazing… we still don’t have a name for him :()

Singing is a great way to learn new things, help us unwind, and expose us to new languages. We have been preparing for our Peace Day Celebration that is coming in the new month, September 21st. We are practicing our songs for this celebration as a community, and are proud of the work we are putting in. More details to come in the next month.  We have enjoyed joining as a class during circle time and singing a plethora of songs and jingles. This has been a great time to get to know each other even more!  When having lunch, we looked forward to seeing what lunch has been prepared for us, being excited when we had the same food on our plate as our friend.

Getting to know the community in Creo and a part of squirrel has been nothing but welcoming. It has been a privilege being able to see your children every day, working and helping them with their development, and overall care. Also, getting to know you parents!  A great appreciation to everyone in playing an immense role on preparing the classroom for this new year! With our first month already coming to a close, I am gracious to see where this year will take us.

With excitement,

Squirrel Team
