BLACK BEAR

Dear Black Bear Families,

After much preparation, collaboration, organization by the children, our yearly Sleepover went over without a hitch! Along with the preparation we had lots of practice with independence, freedom and responsibility, and the children lived up to the challenge.

Everybody had a good time, the food was enjoyed by all and lots of fun and love were shared! It is always breathtaking to watch it all come together and enjoy the remarkable work children are capable of when given the opportunity!

Ms. Laura is still working on the garden and it is looking lush and healthy. This allows endless possibilities for our Biology lessons on the parts and functions of the seed, roots, plants, fruits and flowers!

We are thankful for the trust you give us and for the privilege of learning and growing with your children!

Warmly,

Ms. Rebeca and Ms. Carmen

COYOTE

Dear Coyote Parents and Families,

February proved to be an active month in the Coyotes environment as the children immersed themselves in preparing and planning for the exciting sleepover. The dedication to their efforts was a resounding success. It brought so much joy seeing all the children thoroughly enjoy the experience. This sleepover not only fostered camaraderie but also showcased the children's growing independence, which is a crucial aspect for children in their second plane of development. Independence during this stage is pivotal as it empowers children to take charge of their learning and daily activities, contributing to their personal and social development. We are all so excited for the big trip next month!

In addition to the sleepover, we have introduced Physical Education (P.E.) activities every Wednesday, offering a unique opportunity for the children to collaborate and work together in a different setting. Engaging in activities like sack races, soccer, and 3-legged races not only promotes physical fitness but also supports the development of body scheme and enforces determination among the children. They have been having so much fun!

As we approach March, we would like to remind you about the upcoming conferences. It's an excellent chance for us to discuss your child's progress and address any concerns or questions you may have so don't forget to sign up! We look forward to seeing you there and continuing our collaborative effort in nurturing the growth and development of your child.

FALCON

Dear Falcon Parents,

February has been packed with excitement at the Falcon classroom. Our students have been immersed in a variety of lessons, from math to art, many guided by a dedicated student teacher we hosted for two weeks. The children’s growing responsibility and kindness towards one another are truly inspiring.

Some of our Falcon students embarked on a memorable journey to the Montessori Model United Nations conference in New York City, showcasing their preparation and global awareness.

Additionally, some students enjoyed adventures at a worm farm and Butcher Jones Trail, embracing nature's wonders.

And we end the month with an exciting airport tour to practice moving as a group. Thank you for your continued support.

Warm regards,

Ximena Camarena

ROADRUNNER

Dear Roadrunner families,

Here are some fun updates on all of the exciting things that have been happening in our busy month of February.

First and foremost, our classroom has been bustling with animal encounters! We had two fantastic student presentations featuring live animals, a sweet young ball python named May-May and a curious leopard gecko named Diego. The children were absolutely fascinated by these creatures and learned so much from observing them up close. We also had the pleasure of welcoming a visitor from the toddler community who came to meet Rango, our beloved bearded dragon. Observing our young visitor’s encounter was a mesmerizing experience for the children.

In addition to our in-class experiences, we had the opportunity to join our lovely gardening teacher to visit the Arizona Worm Farm. This outing provided the children with an in-depth tour of recycling and sustainability practices. From learning about cold compost production to experiencing the utilization of Black Soldier Fly larvae as protein for chickens, our visit was both educational and inspiring. The children also toured a self-sustaining house made from materials found on the farm, touched hot compost that can reach a whooping hundred sixty degrees, fed chickens, played with and pet pygmy goats, and of course, brought back to campus a bin full of worms to begin a cold composting system within our classroom.

In the spirit of our love for the animals, a group of students organized a bake sale to raise funds for Rango, surpassing their initial goal of $200! These funds will go towards his live food, supplies, and setting up an emergency fund for any potential veterinary needs in the future. Another group of children were inspired by this work and are planning a future fundraiser as they dive into researching animals becoming endangered by our changing climate.

On the adventurous side, in preparation for our quickly approaching Big Trip, we embarked on the Butcher Jones hiking trail at Saguaro Lake. The children learned valuable lessons about traveling as a group and enjoyed the great outdoors. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to stretch their legs and connect with nature. Additionally, to prepare for our Big Trip, the children were able to get a behind-the-scenes tour of the Sky Harbor International Airport.

This month, we also bid farewell to our 6th-grade friends participating in the Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) and were excited to hear about their adventures in New York City upon their return.

Of course, amidst all these exciting experiences, our regular lessons and work have been ongoing, ensuring that our students continue to holistically thrive in their endeavors.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child’s education. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

 With gratitude,

Ms. Lauren and Ms. Juany
