Peek Inside our Children’s House Community
Dear Wonderful Bobcat Families,
Dear Bobcat Families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful and restorative spring break. It is a beautiful time to reconnect with your child in meaningful ways. Dr. Daniel Amen often speaks about the "20-minute rule": giving your child 20 minutes of undivided attention each day—playing and listening without judgment—to strengthen your bond.
We are so excited to officially welcome our newest students and their families: Jordyn Barnes and Greyson Eyde. Our community continues to grow in such a lovely way.
This is the time of year when we open our classroom doors for parent observations. Below are a few guided thoughts on how to make the most of your visit.
The Art of Observation:
The purpose of your visit is to observe the environment as a functional whole rather than focusing solely on your individual child. In our classroom, the children engage in a three-hour uninterrupted work cycle daily.
Your Role as an Observer: We invite you to sit silently in the designated chair for fifteen minutes. Take a deep breath and let the environment speak to you.
What You Might See:
Practical Life & Academics: Children baking, reading, or pouring water. You might see a child refining their pencil grip by carefully transferring beans with a spoon.
Internalization: If you see a child "just walking around," please know they are often internalizing the activity around them.
Individual Pace: This is a three-year program. You will see some children learning to hold a pencil while others are already writing full sentences. Every child is exactly where they need to be.
Please, Accept the Service: If a child approaches you to offer a beverage or a snack, please accept this service. It is a vital part of their social development and a gift they are proud to share.
Health & Nutrition Note
To support the high level of concentration and "stamina" required for our morning work cycle, we ask that you continue to send a nutritious, balanced lunchbox.
The Power of Protein: Ideally, lunch should feature a strong portion of protein, along with fruits or vegetables and a small portion of complex carbohydrates.
Sustained Energy: We kindly ask that you avoid sending pre-packaged "lunch kits" or snacks where the first ingredients are sugar or corn syrup. These can cause energy crashes that make it difficult for children to regulate their emotions and focus for the remainder of the day.
Music & Literacy
In Song: During Circle Time, the children have been enjoying "Pez Tiburón" by Pequeño Pez. This is a wonderful song that requires coordination, rhythmic attention, and active listening.
Thank you for being such a vital part of our Bobcat community. We look forward to seeing you in the classroom soon!
Ms. Hany and Ms. Rocio
Dear Cactus Wren Families,
Happy Spring! I hope you all had a wonderful and restful break.
It has been such a lovely time in our classroom as we begin to notice the transition into spring. The children have been so observant—pointing out new leaves, insects in the garden, and enjoying the warmer weather. It’s always so special to see how naturally curious they are about the world around them.
In the classroom, we’ve been exploring different climates around the world and learning about the people, animals, and plants that live in each one. The children have shown so much interest in this work, asking thoughtful questions and making connections—it’s been really fun to see!
This month, our baking recipe was blueberry muffins, and the children absolutely loved it! Even though it’s a recipe with quite a few steps and takes a bit more time, they were always so excited when Ms. Luisana invited them to bake. It’s such a great way for them to practice patience, sequencing, and teamwork.
If you’d like to try it at home, here is the recipe we used:
Blueberry Muffins
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup oil
1 cup frozen blueberries
Directions:
Combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder in a mixing bowl.
Mix in milk and oil.
Gently fold in blueberries.
Pour into paper cups or greased muffin pan and bake at 350°F for 25–30 minutes.
Thank you, families, for all your support—we truly appreciate everything you do. We are so excited for the months ahead!
Warmly,
Joselyne and Luisana
Dear Gray Fox Families,
HELLO GRAY FOX FAMILIES,
March has been a joyful and busy month in our classroom!
We would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest friend, Leo. The children have been kind and welcoming, helping him feel comfortable as he begins his journey with us.
After returning from spring break, the children settled back into their routines beautifully. It has been wonderful to see them re-engage with their work and friendships.
This month, our young artists explored creativity through veggie finger painting. They enjoyed using different vegetables to create colorful and unique artwork, combining art with a fun introduction to healthy foods.
Our gardening project continues to thrive! The children have been actively involved in caring for our plants and observing their growth. A special thank you to Ms. Laura for her support in maintaining our garden. We were excited to harvest carrots, tomatoes, celery, and kale, and the children helped prepare a simple ranch for a fresh salad that we enjoyed together. If you have extra produce from your home garden, we would love for you to share it with our classroom.
We are also very excited about a special addition to our classroom, Caterpillars! The children are eagerly observing the butterfly life cycle and learning how to care for them. This hands-on experience brings so much curiosity and wonder as we wait for them to transform into butterflies.
It has been a pleasure meeting with many of you during observations and conferences. The children are always so proud to share their favorite works and routines with you, and it is a meaningful experience for them.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to a wonderful continuation of the spring season together!
Warm regards,
Ms.Rama and Ms. Cecilia
Hello Jackrabbit Families,
Hello Jackrabbit Families,
We hope everyone had a restful and fun Spring Break and had a chance to spend meaningful time with your family.
How lucky we are to enjoy this beautiful weather! Our classroom doors have been open throughout the day, offering children the opportunity to naturally flow between the indoor and outdoor environments. It is a joy to observe children painting at the easel, practicing yoga, scrubbing the sidewalk, watering the garden, filling the bird feeder, washing clothes, sweeping leaves, taking nature walks, and so much more.
The children have been taking such wonderful care of our garden. Each day they eagerly observe whether the tomatoes are ready and check on the growth of the broccoli, eggplants, celery, and strawberries.
This month, we also explored natural luffas. The children were excited to observe the process of peeling the luffas and were especially enthusiastic about using the luffa sponges in our classroom activities.
Thank you for attending our recent community meeting, where we walked you through the mathematics area. We truly appreciate your time and engagement in your child’s learning experience.
