Peek Inside Lower Elementary

BLACK BEAR

Hello Black Bear families,

As we approach the end of our school year we are reminded of the wonderful community we have built together, the growth and transformation every member has experienced, and the culmination of these experiences in the form of our Big Trip.

The children had a fantastic time, and as always, they inspired us and amazed us with their independence, their prowess and their caring hearts.

We will continue to learn and grow during the few weeks we have left, as we prepare for the next chapter of our journey!

Warmly,

Ms. Rebeca and Ms. Carmen

COYOTE

Dear Coyote Parents and Families

Happy Spring! The children are enjoying the warmer weather with the slight breeze, they are enjoying watching nature change within our outdoor environment --- observing the leaves, trees, birds and insects! We started off the month in cooler weather during our big trip in Prescott. The children did an amazing job, learning, creating and just being out in the cool Arizona environment.

However, April brings with it the realization that our school year is quickly coming to an end. Our students are busily working on finishing up projects, follow ups to lessons, and revisiting some of our foundation skills to help us remember during the long summer holidays.

All the students are showing amazing strides in reading as we are coming close to concluding the school. Children are excited to get to silent reading and sharing what they are reading with one another.

Last week, we spent the week bringing awareness to Earth Day. The children spent time, reading about the Earth, receiving lessons in Geography and reading about what it means to be a global citizen. We made sure to turn off the light, we measured our garbage made at lunch each day, trying to reach our goal of 0 lbs. of garbage on Friday. We spent the week being mindful of using up our resources in the classroom, keeping our doors open to the outdoor environment and being mindful of our volume in the classroom, cleaning up the environment we use daily, and picking up garbage around our community.

Just a reminder, the children are welcome to bring water bottles as the weather warms up. We will also be bringing out the coat rack to carline on Fridays of each week in May so that the children make sure to take their coats home!

Warmly,

Coyote Teachers

Peek Inside Upper Elementary

FALCON

Dear Falcon Parents,

April has been a very exciting month for the children. They explored, learned, and played during their Upper Elementary Big Trip to Capitan, New Mexico. They also had the opportunity to connect with children from the Roadrunner class and develop new friendships. At school, the children continued working on their projects, researches, and practiced lessons they have gotten throughout the year.

Grace and courtesy has been a focus during these past few weeks, and it will continue to be as we approach the end of the school year. Paying attention to this is a way to aid the children in the development of their sense of responsibility within a community.

We have some field trips planned for the last month at school and are looking forward to each one of them.

Thank you, as always, for your continuous support!

Kindly,

Ximena Camarena

ROADRUNNER

Dear Roadrunner Families,

April has gone faster than any of us could have anticipated and has been a month full of excitement and new experiences. Our month started off with our community adventure, our Big Trip to Capitan, New Mexico. It was amazing to see the warmth and bonding between Upper Elementary as a whole. Unforgettable memories and new friendships were made. It was an honor to be present and witness the sheer joy that came from new experiences.

Our adventure wore out the children and adults alike and we spent time visiting art lessons, to include optical illusions and paper folding. We also spent some time visiting biology lessons and seeing them in nature as we visited the Veteran’s Oasis Park.

Presentations this month have included the history and creation of different ice cream flavors along with samples, as well as information shared about our oceans and creatures that dwell within them. Sweet Treats Bakery concluded their bake sale series with their final sale mid-April to reach a total of over $2,100 to be donated to the Children’s Home Project in Honduras and the East Valley Breast Cancer Foundation. Thank you to everyone who has helped this group more than double their original goal.

It is bittersweet as we look to our last few weeks together as we begin to prepare for the closing of the school year and anticipate welcoming summer.

With continued gratitude,

Ms. Lauren and Ms. Juany
