BLACK BEAR

Dear Black Bear families,

Summer weather has finally moved out and been replaced by the beautiful temperatures, smells and sounds of Fall. This month was very productive and went by so fast with lots of learning and fun!

Ms. Laura is guiding the children in tending and beautifying our outdoor environments, and the children are connecting their Biology lessons with the real life experience of caring for our gardens!

In the classroom there are a variety of activities happening with lessons, yoga, baking, cooking, research and even creating a skit and an altar for Day of the Dead with the help of Ms. Carmen.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the parent support we received for our fundraising auction. It was so much fun to see everyone having a good time in the fabulous Studio 10 Disco setting!

We are looking forward to the approaching Holiday Season and all the learning and fun yet to come. We hope that you and your loved ones enjoy this special memory-making time of the year!

With Gratitude,

COYOTE

Happy Halloween Coyote Parents and Family!

This month has been a whirlwind of hard work!

The children are getting back into the rhythm of the work cycle and have been keeping very busy. We are beginning to see big work and going outs happening. We had our first going out to the library as well as to an animal shelter. We have had a lot of research the children are working on and finishing up as they are ready to share with the rest of the class. Practicing and revisiting materials as well as starting to memorize their math facts for multiplication have been a buzz around the Coyotes.

This month, we also said goodbye to Ms. Edna and welcomed Ms. Judith into the classroom. There has been excitement in the classroom about rocks and minerals, the human body, marine life, and the universe. We have seen lessons on the fundamental needs and history of boats, the parts of geometric figures and the factors of numbers.

Currently as a group we are reading The Wizard of Oz, and the children are very eager to find out what comes next!

Here is a little excerpt from the book…

“You people with hearts,' he said once, 'have something to guide you, and need never do wrong; but I have no heart, and so I must be very careful.”

Sincerely,

Coyote Teachers

FALCON

Dear Falcon Parents,

"The greatest gifts we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.” - Dr. Maria Montessori

October has been a fantastic month in our classroom! We're thrilled to report that the recent campout was a resounding success, and we're already looking forward to the one in January, which will be planned by your children.

Inside the classroom, the children are showing great interest and enthusiasm for mathematics, and their progress is remarkable.

We also celebrated Día de los Muertos by creating a beautiful ofrenda and preparing traditional Mexican dishes, including pan de muerto. Ms. Carla led the activities in Spanish, providing an enriching cultural experience.

Our focus on self-awareness and nurturing peaceful and respectful interactions with peers and teachers continues to be a priority.

As we move into November, we're excited for another month of growth, learning, and fun activities. Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in your child's education.

Warm regards,

Ms. Ximena

ROADRUNNER

Dear Roadrunner families,

I hope you had a wonderful Fall Break; we were excited to welcome back the children. This month began with a captivating presentation on fire safety delivered by a local firefighter and the father of one of our classmates. The children were not only fascinated by the informative session but were eager to put their newfound knowledge into practice during Creo’s first-ever Camp Out. It was heartwarming to witness their enthusiasm for this new adventure.

During the Camp Out, the children started the morning with a yoga session led by Ms. Ximena. They then dove into a wide range of activities, from exploring the Riparian to learning about its significance for both wildlife and humans. They also gained valuable insights into ethnobotany and enjoyed bird watching. After lunch and setting up their tents, the children enjoyed some free time, a nature walk and later began dinner preparations. The children savored delicious tacos, with some even taking the initiative to warm the tortillas over the open flame for everyone. As night fell, they had an incredible opportunity to visit the observatory, where they saw the rotating ceiling in action as a local astronomer showed the children many stars and even some planets.

Many of our young explorers rose with the sun, eager to head home and embark on their Fall Break adventures. We look forward to sharing more details and addressing any questions you may have during our upcoming Community Meeting on December 4th.

In addition to our outdoor escapades, some of our students further explored space-related concepts and enjoyed a guided tour at ASU’s School of Earth and Space Exploration. There, they had the privilege of encountering various models and labs and met a diverse group of students studying an array of fascinating subjects. It was an eye-opening experience that highlighted the close collaboration between NASA and ASU.

A group of students has been planning a fundraising event to support our Big Trip in April to the Nature Bridge program in March. They will be presenting information on November 1st, including the official launching of a website they created. Additional details of the fundraiser event will be sent out in the coming week.

This month also saw three birthdays, a day-long trip to the library for the 6th-grade Capstone research, a routine slowly being established for our beloved Rango (the bearded dragon), and a continuation of work with the materials.

Thank you for your ongoing support in fostering a love for learning in our students.

Warm regards,

Ms. Lauren and Ms. Juany
