Peek Inside our Children’s House Community
Dear Bobcat Families,
It's been a busy and wonderful month in our classroom! We're so excited to welcome our newest student, Beckham Miller, who has joined us from the Hummingbird classroom. It's a joy to have him as part of our community.
A Month of Growth and Peace:
This month, we've been celebrating the life cycle of a plant. The children were thrilled to watch their own seeds sprout and grow, and they've been diligently taking care of their little plants. We also celebrated Peace Day and had great discussions about what it means to be peaceful. The children had wonderful ideas, such as keeping our hands to ourselves, sharing balls during recess, taking turns, and using our words.
To celebrate the United Nations Day of Peace on September 21st, the children enjoyed singing "Light a Candle for Peace" by Shelley Murley. You can watch it together here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9M8SmWh2Fo
Exploring Our Outdoor Environment
We've officially opened up our outdoor environment, which allows the children to work both inside and out. This space is perfect for practicing large motor skills and practical life activities. Some of the favorite works include:
Doing yoga
Painting on an easel or the floor
Scrubbing the floor and washing clothes
Sweeping dry leaves and watering our garden
Children are welcome to bring materials from the classroom to work outside, which creates a wonderful connection between our indoor and outdoor spaces.
Fostering Leadership:
As the children grow, we try to empower them with more responsibility. Our 3rd-year students have been practicing serving tea, coffee, and water to guests, as well as answering the phone. We also have some children who are now in charge of things like doing the laundry, putting away clean dishes, and preparing snack. These tasks are often done in pairs with an older and younger child, allowing the older child to be the leader. Fostering self-confidence, empathy, responsibility, and problem-solving skills, ultimately preparing children for future leadership roles in society.
Thank you for your partnership and support in making this a wonderful school year.
Best,
Ms. Hany and Ms. Rocio

Dear Cactus Wren Families,
Dear Cactus Wren families,
Happy September and the start of the Autumn season, though the weather has not quite caught up to the times yet!
It has been an exciting month in Cactus Wren. The baking recipe of this month was banana bread and children loved it. Even though this recipe requires a lot of time and follows a long sequence of steps, the children were so excited every time Ms. Luisana invited them to bake. Below is the Banana bread recipe for the banana bread for your family to enjoy at home.
Banana bread
Ingredients:
-1/3 cup sugar
-2 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons oil
-1 cup flour
-1 teaspoon baking powder
-1/8 teaspoon baking soda
-1/2 cup banana
Directions:
1. Mash well ripened bananas in a small bowl and set aside.
2. Mix baking powder , baking soda, flour and sugar.
3. Add mashed bananas and oil. Stir well. This batter will be very thick.
4. Spoon ingredients into a greased (or spray with Pam) a 9x5x3" loaf pan or
muffin tins.
5. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for
approximately 15 to 20 minutes for muffins. (35 minutes for small loaves)
Since the weather is getting cooler the outdoor environment is being available to work in and children have enjoyed taking care of the garden.
The children had a lovely Peace Day celebration. We enjoyed the time while singing the peace day songs all together at circle time and making
bracelets.Thank you families for all that you do and sharing children with us! We are excited to see what October brings!
Warmly,
Joselyne and Luisana

Dear Gray Fox Families,
HELLO GRAY FOX FAMILIES,
What another wonderful month it’s been in the Gray Fox classroom! This month, we celebrated Peace Day, and the children had such a joyful time performing
songs about peace. You may have heard them at home, and if you'd like to continue singing together as a family, here are the songs we sang:
• Paz Como Un Rio (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcxInCV8XxI&list=RDJcxInCV8XxI&start_radio=)
• Peace like a River (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2R4D6qhaD8&list=RDN2R4D6qhaD8&st)
• Light a Candle for Peace (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9M8SmWh2Fo&list=RDK9M8SmWh2Fo&start_radio=1)
These songs are available on YouTube and can be a meaningful way to bond as a family while encouraging peace at home. Along with music, we read stories about peace and had thoughtful discussions about what peace looks like inside and outside of the classroom. Grace and Courtesy lessons—such as offering a hug, holding the door open for a friend, or practicing calm, peaceful movements—have been central to fostering a caring environment.
Fall has arrived! It’s a wonderful season to try new foods together. If you explore seasonal recipes at home with your child, I would love to see photos to share with the class. In theclassroom, we are excited to bake cornbread this month.
I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who attended our recent community meeting on the topic “Montessori at Home. ” Your thoughtful participation is greatly appreciated, and it truly strengthens our partnership in supporting the children.
A big thank you as well to our dedicated parent volunteers who continue to help with our classroom project and with preparing the basket for the charity event!
Lastly, please remember to join us for the upcoming Esperanza Charity Event to support our school. Your attendance and involvement are vital in building a strong, connected community.
We are looking forward to another meaningful month together!
Warm regards,
Ms. Rama & Ms. Silvia

Hello Jackrabbit Families,
Dear Jackrabbit Families,
Thank you so much for attending our “Practical Life and Montessori at Home” Community Meeting. It is always wonderful to have you with us!
This past month, we celebrated Peace Day, and it was a truly heartwarming event. The entire school came together to sing in unity. If you’d like to continue the celebration at home with your family, here are the names of the songs the children sang:
Paz Como un Río – Elizabeth Mitchell, Suni Paz
Peace Like a River – Elizabeth Mitchell
Light a Candle for Peace – Shelley Murley
We also honored Dr. Maria Montessori’s 155th birthday with a Sun Celebration. The children sang happy birthday and read a book about her life. They truly enjoyed learning about who she was and the legacy she left behind.
In celebration of Mexican Independence Day, we baked conchas, a traditional Mexican pan dulce (sweet bread). The children had a wonderful time dancing to traditional Mexican music and, of course, enjoying their freshly baked conchas!
It has been beautiful to observe how our older children are stepping up as leaders—kindly guiding and caring for the younger ones. What a lovely and supportive community they are building together.
The children have also been baking banana bread. Below is the recipe if you'd like to try it at home with your child:
Banana Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
2 ripe bananas, peeled
1/3 cup melted butter
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 pinch of salt
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas with a fork until smooth.
Stir in the melted butter.
Mix in the baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Stir to combine.
Mix in the flour until just incorporated.
Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
Let cool in the pan for a few minutes, then remove and let cool completely before serving.
Show and Share Reminder:
Every Friday, we have “Show and Share.” Participation is optional. We kindly ask that you do not send books based on fantasy. Instead, we encourage children to bring something meaningful to them, such as a non-fiction book, a souvenir from a trip, or a traditional object from another country.
Thank you again, Jackrabbit families, for your continued support. We are so grateful to be part of your child’s Montessori journey.
Warmly,
Ms. Yadira and Ms. Karen
