AUGUST 2022

Peek Inside our Children’s House Community

BOBCAT

Hello Bobcat Families,

It has been a wonderful month in our classroom. We would like to welcome to Alli, Amon, Austin, Elizabeth, James, Matthew, and Violet to the Bobcat Children’s House! .The children are working on adjusting to the classroom routine. They come to the classroom ready to work and contribute to the community. Grace and Curtesy lessons have supported the children in their daily interactions with fellow peers as their absorbent mind is taking everything in  and adapting to their community expectations.

When presenting Grace and Courtesy lessons, we invite children to act the lesson out. For example, if we demonstrate how to carry a chair, each child in the lesson will have the opportunity to practice carrying the chair while the other children observe.  We let the children know that at any time of the work period they can act out the scenario as a chosen activity. Grace and Courtesy lessons enhance social relations by giving children the appropriate responses to maintain a social order and dignity within the environment. These are some samples of lessons that we have presented to our children:

  • How to greet someone.

  • How to ask for help.

  • How to observe a classmate who is working.

  • How to walk in the classroom

  • Using quiet voices

  • Walking around the rugs

  • Chairs indicate how many people may work at a table. Grace and Courtesy lessons enhance social relations by giving children the appropriate responses to maintain a social order and dignity within the environment.

CACTUS WREN

Dear Cactus Wren Families,

The past few weeks have been a wonderful start to the school year, and we are so excited for what the rest of the year holds! It is hard to believe August is at a close and September is about to start. We want to send a warm welcome to all our returning and new families. You and your children make our Cactus Wren community so special.

The children have spent these past weeks familiarizing themselves with the classroom procedures, as well as practicing new and previous lessons. It has been amazing to see the progress of all the children over the month, and to see the community they are making together; especially during our family-style lunch!

We have been learning about the different continents in our class, the different people and animals that call these places home and singing songs about them. The children have also been excited to begin baking and have made cream drop biscuits for snacks and blueberry muffins. Below is the recipe for the biscuits the children enjoy making each morning. This is a great activity to share together at home!

GRAY FOX

Hello Gray Fox families,

Welcome back! It has been a wonderful month in the classroom getting reacclimated to the environment and welcoming all of our new students. We have many of them, so if you haven’t introduced yourself, please do! Our first several weeks of school have been spent revisiting a variety of our Grace and Courtesy lessons and reviewing classroom expectations and boundaries. These are role playing activities in which the children practice positive and peaceful day to day interactions such as :

  • How to greet a teacher

  • Offering a hug

  • Carrying a tray

  • Using the bathroom

  • Pouring water for drinking

  • How to ask a friend to walk away

  • Observing a lesson

  • How to ask for help

And so much more! Additionally, we are working hard to maintain a harmonious space which allows the children to develop deep, meaningful, loving and trusting relationships with one another that will continue to grow throughout the year. We have also been reviewing and receiving lessons on how to set a proper place setting for lunch and eat peacefully. This is a great activity you can incorporate at home! In the classroom, each place setting consists of a tablecloth, a placemat, a rolled napkin with a ring, a cup, a plate and a wet hand towel for cleaning face. Furthermore, this is a great time to assess the independence of your child when opening their lunch containers and setting their plate.

Lastly, we have welcomed our new assistant Mrs. Lupita into Gray Fox and we couldn’t be more thrilled! Mrs. Lupita has been a Creo parent for three years and fits well into our close community. The children have enjoyed getting to know about her hobbies, where she comes from, what she likes, and working on Spanish vocabulary with her. If you haven’t already done so, please introduce yourself to her and show some love!

Thank you all for being supportive of what we do in the classroom and for being overall amazing humans. I feel grateful to be back in the classroom together and I am looking forward to another epic and wonderful year!

 Warmly,

 Ms. Kayla and Ms. Lupita

JACKRABBIT

Welcome to the Jackrabbit Children’s House!

We are so excited to welcome everyone back to Jackrabbit’s and we welcome the new students and their families. It is a pleasure to witness the children as they are reconnecting with each other and how they are welcoming the new students. We are looking forward to a year full of growing, learning and becoming a community. Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend the first Community Meeting, we appreciated your presence. We invite you to attend future parent nights, as those meetings will give you a better understanding of what happens in our classroom on daily basis.  Thank you to all the parents for cooperating at our drop-off time and keeping it “short and sweet”.  The children have been enjoying their new lessons and adapting to the environment and routine. Grace and Courtesy lessons are being presented daily and will continue throughout the year as this will help them to have peaceful interactions with one another.

The children have been enjoying Spanish songs, here is a list of Spanish songs that we sing during group time:

 • La Araña Pequeñita

• Buenos Días

• Diez Deditos

• Sol Solecito

Thank you for your trust and support. We are looking forward to a wonderful year filled with new experiences and the beginning of lifetime memories. We appreciate you and what an honor to be part of your child’s Montessori journey.

Warmly,

Ms. Yadira and Ms. Karen
