January 2025

Honeybee

Hello Honeybee Families!

We are so happy to have rung in the new year with all these happy and healthy babies! We hope your 2025 has started strong. As we welcome this new year, we’d also like to welcome a few new members of our Honeybee familia.

This new season brings us new life, both to the environment and to the children. We’ve witnessed so many new phases of infancy, including first steps, first foods, and even first words! With the new leaves and grass growing around us, alongside are the children eager to grow too! Have you noticed your child excited to crawl around outside? Expect lots of curiosity surrounding your child as the new year settles in around us.

“The child has a different relation to his environment from ours… the child absorbs it.  The things he sees are not just remembered; they form part of his soul.  He incarnates in himself all in the world about him that his eyes see and his ears hear.” (The Absorbent Mind, p.56)

As the weather is unpredictable, we try to enjoy ever sunny day that comes by! With that being said, please make sure to send in warm jackets and clothing with your child, labeled with their first and last names!

As always, we’re anticipating all the growth that will come to our Honeybee family in February. We look forward to the warmer weather for us to explore! We have a social in February so be on the look out for the informational email! If you have any questions or comments, please contact Susan@creoschool.org or Nido@creoschool.org

 With all our love,

Honeybee Team 💌

Butterfly

 Hello again Butterfly Families,

We are off to a wonderful start to the new year with a full classroom. We have so many students and so many personalities. It still amazes me to watch how our 2-3 year old’s lend a helping hand to the youngest and newest of the group just as we, as adults, demonstrate every day; the humility and selflessness that they give each other comes from within each child; never forced.

We have made a great effort to remind the class to care for our environment and care of self this month. Reminding children our plants and birds need care just like we do; our plants drink water every day just like us. We observe the wet table and feeling it is wet, the drips falling off our hand when we touch the wet table makes a bigger difference than just saying it is wet—we bring our senses into it to make a personal connection. Making those connections daily reinforces a child to incorporate it into their daily routine without a reminder. Try it at home! Try beginning a daily routine on something as easy as watering a plant or feeding the dog in the morning and without asking, your toddler will begin doing it on her/his own in no time.

This month would be a great time to switch out the old toys with new toys given from the holidays. This would be a great time to place toys on a shelf or in small baskets to separate toys so they are not thrown into a bin altogether at the end of the day and they each have their own space of belonging. 5 or 6 toys out at a time should be more than enough and these can be rotated out routinely once you notice your child is bored with the toys provided. If you took advantage of the break to put something like this together, I would love to see it!

I want to kindly remind everyone to look at the lunch containers being sent for lunch and practice opening them with your littles at home. There are some containers with big lids that the children can’t hug their fingers on completely and it makes it more of a challenge to open. Please also remember to keep hot and cold foods in separate containers or in easy to pull out compartments within the larger containers. Children automatically gravitate towards pouring all of their food out of the container and many times the cold food mixes in with what needs to be heated and it makes it more of a challenge on the adults to separate it. Please think of us and the fact that we have 13 children in the classroom. If all children bring in hard-to-open containers, we will assist all the children in opening their lunch and, as a result, some children will have to wait longer to for our assistance.

Thanks so much!

Warmly,

Ms. Rebeca & Ms. Daisy

Hummingbird

Welcome to the 2025 spring semester!

We are off to a great start, the children returned with a passion to learn about all the new materials and activities we set out. We are so eager to see everyone return safely from winter break. Also, we welcomed two new students and their families to our Hummingbird family. We are excited to have Beckham and Shivam in our class now! If you see them around, please feel free to introduce yourself and give them a warm welcome.

This month, the children seemed to really enjoy the cheese biscuits that were prepared by one of the children daily. We shared them during lunchtime so if you happen to have seen them in your child’s lunchbox, then that was from our class. We try to share at least one dish amongst everyone during lunch time, whether it be carrots one student prepared or cheese biscuits, it’s always a great way to get closer to one another by sharing food. Along with cheese biscuits and peeling and slicing carrots, the children also had the option to peel and slice eggs and slice pickles.

The children were very eager to practice watering the plants, feeding the fish, and drying up any spills around the classroom. We encourage the children to take care of their environment so that we can all benefit from it. It is always so nice to see our older children ready to help the younger ones clean up their spills or pick up any work left out. Being part of a community that models and consistently collaborates with clean-up in return helps them develop grace and courtesy.

Thank you so much for your trust and support,

Ms. Kat and Ms. Dafne

Squirrel

Welcome back to our second semester of this school year!

The children have been so excited to get back into our routine after an eventful winter break. We welcomed two new friends this month and all the children were very welcoming and caring. Welcome Kai and River to our Squirrel community!

This month has brought us wonderful breezy days, our baking this month has been cheddar biscuits and we work together to prepare them. One child will mix the ingredients and roll the dough, while another will grate the cheese! With our snack being pickles, toast and eggs, the children have had a chance to peel and slice eggs and slice pickles, which they enjoy quite a bit.

We have a loving and caring community as you see the younger children getting help from the older ones, this Montessori environment is joyful and busy. We are excited for conferences to happen after spring break so we can share a glimpse of what happens here.  Please me on the lookout for a sign up.

Friendly reminders to please use the tablet hung by the door every day to sign in/out your child. Also, during pick up we kindly ask you to exit so we can continue our aftercare program and close the gates promptly at 3:15pm.

Keep an eye out for information about our upcoming social! We enjoy this time to socialize with one another, this event will take place on Tuesday, February 18th - Nido & Toddler @ toddler playground.

Thank you for all your continued support and trust!!
