The child who has felt a strong love for their surroundings and for all living creatures, who has discovered joy and enthusiasm in work, gives us a reason to hope that humanity can develop in a new direction.

Lauren Mena

Roadrunner upper elementary lead guide

Lmena@creoschool.org

Lauren is a mathematic fanatic, having successfully completed pre-calculus by eighth grade. She began her journey in education long ago; always being fond of tutoring and helping others learn. While she pursued her Bachelors of Multidisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), she enrolled two of her children in a Montessori program without knowledge of the method or theory. She has been a Texas certified 4-8th grade teacher since 2017 and has experience teaching middle school English, Math, and College and Careers.

In 2020, to better understand her children’s plane of development and help guide them through the challenges of virtual learning, Lauren decided to obtain her AMI Elementary Guide (6-12) diploma through the Southwest Institute of Montessori Studies (SIMS). She found her calling. She has been truly moved by Montessori education, both figuratively and literally, as she moved with her husband and three young children from Texas to Arizona to join the Creo staff. She is currently working on her Masters of Montessori Education from Loyola University in Maryland. She is also in the pursuit of her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction Secondary Education- Dual Credit Mathematics from UTEP. She eagerly pursues professional development, and has taken many Montessori-based courses to enrich her training and bring more to her classroom.

Lauren loves learning alongside her children. When they are not busy treasuring time with family, they love to read, bake, swim, hike and find adventures all around them. Lauren and her husband look forward to exploring Arizona more with their three children.
