Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence.

Juany Montero

ROADRUNNER Upper Elementary Assistant

Ms. Juany is a cheerful and happy person. She is passionate about Montessori. Along with her family, Ms. Juany moved to Arizona 5 years ago, looking for safety. She is warmhearted and likes to dance; she has a Caribbean spirit as her native country is Venezuela. Ever since she was a child, Ms. Juany dreamed of being a teacher and she achieved her dream almost 19 years ago. Juany holds her bachelor’s degree in Special Education and worked for 10 years in a school assisting students with various needs including visual impairment, special education, and autism. She was the coordinator and director of a school for young people with learning differences.

Juany came to Arizona looking for new opportunities and began working as an Assistant Teacher in a Montessori school.  She had previously heard of the Montessori Method, but she had not been able to study it in depth. Thus, she began a new life always surrounded by children and exercising her vocation as a Montessorian. Ms. Juany was certified as an AMI Montessori Assistant, studied pedagodgy and completed her certification through the University of Barcelona - Spain IMI Nido.

Ms. Juany likes to create new projects and has an adventurous spirit. She, her husband, her son, and her little girl (a Yorkshire, who has been with them for 10 years) like to spend with friends and relatives who live in Arizona. Her hobbies include cooking traditional Venezuelan and Spanish cuisine, creating new recipes, watching movies, reading, and traveling.

Although her ideal place is to live is near the ocean, she loves Arizona and its people. She likes to organize parties and help everyone who needs her, but what she enjoys the most is having the children around and being a teacher, because children teach her every day.
