March 2026

Peek Inside Lower Elementary

BLACK BEAR

March has unfolded with a steady rhythm of lessons—some planned, others discovered in unexpected moments. Our room buzzed with curiosity, a peaceful bustle in the air and sense of purpose without rush, as our community built meaningful moments together. Ms. Carmen continues to connect the children to the Spanish language, in conversation and introducing more challenging lessons, including telling time. It was a month where community strengthened—through shared effort and encouragement.

One of the highlights was our annual Color Run. It was fun and a reminder of how powerful it is to come together, to cheer each other on, and to create memories that linger. A special thank you to all the families who contributed; your generosity helped make the Black Bear community the top fundraising classroom!

As March moves on, there’s a feeling of anticipation. What has been built so far fuels excitement for the upcoming Big Trip, withconfidence in the strong bonds we’ve formed throughout the year!

We thank you for your support and trust!

Warmly,

Ms. Rebeca and Ms. Carmen

COYOTE

Dear Coyote Parents and Families,

We had the privilege of beginning the month with an incredible field trip to the Agritopia Farms. During our visit, the children were given a private tour where they learned about the journey of food from soil to harvest. They even had the opportunity to prepare fresh chimichurri. The hands-on experience was a highlight for many students and connected beautifully to the botany work we have been exploring in the classroom.

As spring has begun, we have been studying the Earth’s rotation around the Sun and how it influences the changing seasons around the world. This time of year, students are beginning to deepen their understanding and make meaningful connections across subject areas.

In mathematics, we have been exploring the relationship between multiplication and square numbers. We have also been studying measurement, with a focus on area and perimeter, and how these concepts connect.

In language, the children have continued their work with parts of speech. They have begun categorizing nouns and adjectives and are strengthening their understanding of sentence structure through work with subjects and predicates.

We ended the month with our Color Run, which was a joyful and memorable experience for all. It is always wonderful to see the friendships and sense of community within Creo continue to grow through shared experiences like this.

Warmly,

Ms. Samantha and Ms. Maria

FALCON

Dear Falcon Families,

We have had a full and exciting few weeks in our elementary classroom, and we are happy to share some highlights with you!

First, we are thrilled to report that elementary testing is officially complete. The students worked hard and showed great perseverance throughout the process. Thank you for your support in helping them feel prepared and confident.

In preparation for our upcoming Big Trip to Yosemite, we have been practicing walking together as a large group. This has been a great opportunity to build teamwork, awareness, and responsibility as we get ready for our adventure. We are also diving into learning about Yosemite’s wildlife and ecosystems, which is building excitement and background knowledge for the trip.

Our community has shown incredible support recently—our “That’s Amore” fundraiser and Color Run were both huge successes! We are so grateful for your participation and generosity. In addition, students have begun engaging in community outreach, including visits to Clearwater and organizing an upcoming clothing drive. It has been wonderful to see their growing sense of service and connection to the community.

Academically, we have started a new history unit on the Revolutionary War, and students have begun research projects on past American presidents. We also launched a whole-class book club this quarter, which has sparked thoughtful discussions and a shared love of reading.

As capstone presentations are wrapping up, we have begun Writer’s Workshop lessons for our 4th and 5th grade students. These lessons are designed to strengthen writing skills and help prepare our 5th graders for their own capstone projects next year. Students also recently completed their animal story presentations, which showcased their creativity and hard work.

In math, we continue to build strong foundations through daily practice and drills, reinforcing key skills and concepts.

Looking ahead, Capstone Presentation sign-ups have gone out, and all families are welcome to attend! Presentations will take place:

  • May 14th & 15th: 9:00–10:15 AM and 1:30–2:45 PM

  • May 16th: 1:30–2:45 PM

We will wrap up the month with a fun and educational field trip to the Arizona Worm Farm, which we know the students are already excited about!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. It truly makes a difference in the students’ experience.

Warmly,

Ms. Emily and Ms. Carla

ROADRUNNER

Dear Roadrunner Families,

Although March has felt like a short month with Spring Break in the middle, the children have truly been hard at work! We hope you all enjoyed your special time together over the break. It has been so wonderful to welcome everyone back into the classroom and see the children busy, engaged, and excited to learn.

This month we have been diving deeply into writing. Our 6th graders are in the exciting stage of compiling their research notes into multi-paged research papers, showing impressive perseverance and growing independence. Meanwhile, our 4th and 5th graders have been participating in Writer’s Labs, where they are spending dedicated time moving through each step of the writing process as we introduce more structured writing expectations. Together, we have also been analyzing articles as a community and practicing how to expand written thoughts based on the information they read, an important skill that we are seeing them grow more confident in each week.

In our cultural studies, we are continuing to explore early American colonial history while also studying the geography of the North American continent. The children have shown wonderful curiosity and thoughtful engagement as they make connections between people, place, and time.

Another highlight this month has been the children’s increasing enthusiasm for community volunteer opportunities. Some students have had the chance to visit Clearwater at Agritopia with Ms. Catie, while others have enjoyed reading to toddlers and babies on our campus. These experiences have been so meaningful in helping them see themselves as contributing members of a larger community.

Of course, there has also been plenty of joy and celebration! The children had a wonderful time participating in the Color Run and simply enjoying being active and playful with their friends.

Later this month, our 6th graders will be visiting the Farm on Friday, March 27, and some of the other children will be heading to the Worm Farm with Ms. Laura. These experiences will support our lessons on sustainability and help the children understand what a full-circle sustainable farm looks like, including how nutrient-dense soil supports thriving food gardens.

It continues to be such a pleasure to work with your children and witness their sparks of interest, perseverance, and creativity take off. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Warmly,
Ms. Lauren and Ms. Juany
