Peek Inside our Children’s House Community

Hello Bobcat families,

We have had an amazing year!! And each one of you have had a hand in that, no matter how great or small. Thank you so much for all your support and guidance throughout this school year. It has been a great blessing to watch your children learn and grow this year.

We have 4 beautiful children who are graduating, Allie, Caroline, Layla, and Violet. Congratulations on your achievements! We wish you all the best in this new beginning. Thank you for sharing your light with all of us.

We would like to wish you all a safe and happy summer. We can’t wait to hear about your amazing adventures over the summer as we return to school.

CACTUS WREN

Dear Cactus Wren Families,

The end of the year is here, and what a year it has been in Cactus Wren. The children have learned and grown so much. The children have truly created a compassionate and kind community with one another, and we look back fondly on the year past and all the special moments. Thank you, families, for sharing your children with us and letting us be a part of their journey through Children’s House.

During this past month, the class has had a keen interest in food, baking different recipes, and singing a new song. Below are the lyrics to the Mango Fandango song you may have been hearing at home recently!

Mango Fandango

Chorus:

Mama! Mama! I want a mango

Papa! Papa! Please, papaya

No, no Nana, a ripe banana

Kiwi kiwi, kiwi, kiwi, quince!

Red berries, berries blue

These are fruits so good for you

Cherries, cherries sweet and new

And coconuts yes, they’re fruit too!

Chorus:

 Oranges, oranges, lemons yellow

Fill my tummy sweet and mellow

Vitamins grown on a tree

In pretty packages for you and me

Chorus:

Oh, they travel many miles

Fill our hearts with many smiles

Sweet, delicious, tasty treats

From Monther Nature a gift to eat!

Thank you again families for such an amazing year and we are thrilled for the new school year ahead. We hope your summer is wonderful and restful!

 Warmly,

 Ms. Laura & Ms. Annette

Hello Gray Fox families,

I can’t believe we have already reached the end of the year! Can you believe it?! It has been yet another amazing, eventful year full of lots of love and growth for the Gray Fox classroom. I want to congratulate our graduates this year; Luke, Grace, Mallory, Ellie, Lana, Eli, Diego and Chloe! They have worked so hard to reach this point so let’s do our best to wish them the utmost luck as they move forward in their academic journey. We will miss you all so much!

I encourage you all this summer to continue providing your children with plenty of opportunities to explore, exercise their independence and nurture their own curiosity. I know we have a very hot summer ahead of us so I wanted to provide you with some ideas to still get your children moving and out and about. Firstly, you can start by revisiting some of our past Peek Insides for recipes we use throughout the summer in the classroom, or even trying some new ones with seasonal fruits and vegetables. To beat the heat, there are also several museums that I will list below. I know we have a mixed age group, so I am listing ideas for children of all ages and capabilities. I encourage you to look through and explore each of them to see if it’s something your family would be interested in doing together!

  • Arizona Museum of Natural History : Explore exhibits related to natural history such as dinosaurs, native people, Mesoamerica, South America, Arizona and more. Visit the Lost Dutchman’s Mine, Territorial Jail, a gold panning experience and so on. Tickets are only $3.50 for ages 3-12 and free for children younger.

  • Arizona Science Center : More than 300 stem exhibits, an IMAX theater, a creation space, permanent exhibits on the human body (how it functions and works), science of flight, forces of nature, the brain, financial literacy, electricity, digital communication technology, renewable energy and more! Tickets are $14.95 for ages 3-17 and free for children under.

  • Children’s Museum of Phoenix : Hands on, interactive play by learning exhibits designed for children 10 and younger. There’s a bike track, mud kitchen, sand pit, bubbleopolis and more - all designed to get kids minds and muscles moving and grooving! Tickets are $14.95.

  • Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve : Get outside for a short walk/hike or escape the heat inside at this archeology museum and 47-acre Sonoran Desert preserve that features the largest concentration of Native American petroglyphs. Free for ages 6 and under.

  • Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting : This one is really awesome! More than 100 fully restored pieces of fire apparatus dating from 1725-2004 originating in America, England, France, Austria, Germany and Japan. Tickets are $10 for ages 6-17, $6 ages 3-5, and free for children younger.

  • Gilbert Historical Museum : Ever wonder what Gilbert used to look like before it became the city it is today? This museum has thousands of artifacts displayed in themed rooms recreating early life in Gilbert. The museum site is actually the original Gilbert Elementary School! You can also find vintage farm equipment too! $3 ages 5-12, free to children younger.

  • I.d.e.a Museum : Art and hands-on activities designed to support early learning, nurture creativity and engage families. Build projects, develop stories in the Imagination Station, create light pixels and more. This is great for children ages 0-4. Tickets are $9, infants are free.

  • Musical Instrument Museum : We love exploring new instruments and culture through music here in Gray Fox! This museum has more than 6,500 instruments from around the world and more. Tickets are $10 ages 4-12, and free for children younger.

  • Phoenix Police Museum : Exhibits include a mock up of an early 1900s police station, police cars, robots, helicopters and more. Learn about SWAT training and how technology is used in keeping our cities safe. Children can try on real Phoenix Police uniforms and get “sworn in” as police officers while visiting the museum! Donations are appreciated.

  • Pueblo Grande Museum and Archeological Park : Located on a 1,500 old archeological site left by the Hohoham culture. The museum has a fully accessible ⅔ mile trail with partially excavated portions, ball court and replicated houses. Three indoor galleries display artifacts and a children’s hands on gallery offers activities to help kids understand the science of archeology. Tickets are $3 for ages 6-17 and free for children younger.

Additionally, it is always a great idea to regularly explore your local libraries and offer plentiful opportunities for your child to continue their path to total reading, or explore new and exciting pieces of literature outside of school. Lastly, I wanted to add a few of the children’s favorite Spanish songs that they have learned with Mrs. Edna. I will attach the links below. Please keep in mind that we do not show the children the screen while engaging in music activities, this is simply to provide the musical notes to sing along with.

 Warmly,

Ms. Kayla and Ms. Edna
