Dear Gray Fox families,
What a wonderful time of year! The sun is beaming, the flowers are blooming and spirits are bright. We are in complete awe that April is approaching so quickly. We hope that you enjoyed your spring break and made many family memories. Ms. Yadira and I sure loved hearing all of the children’s stories. Just before the break, we enjoyed celebrating Max’s 4th birthday!
Since our return, we have been as busy as ever. The gardens are flourishing. The first photos before showcase the children planting seeds in the garden, specifically; corn, cucumbers, peppers and sunflowers. The photo on the right was taken one week later of some of the plants already beginning to sprout! Observing this growth is true magic for the children.
The Persian New Year (Norouz) Celebration was delightful! Thank you so very much to the Shabaniani and Sloss families for your thoughtful contributions and pragmatic display. The children loved it.
In other news, the children continue to advance beautifully into what we ‘Montessorians’ like to refer to as a Normalized group. They are internalizing their lessons in Grace and Courtesy and applying them in the classroom, on the playground, with staff members, visitors and other children on campus. This is their opportunity to display ownership and independence. As Dr. Montessori explained, this is not something that the adults can take neither credit nor fault for as our work is on the periphery. The Montessori guides provide children with the opportunity to respond in a peaceful manner. The children are constructing their own understanding, control and order in a harmonious way to work as a community. The explosion of academics, creativity, social interactions, concentration and enthrallment with learning are intertwined into a balanced and joyful environment.
We are happy to announce that our first Student Teacher from the AMI Training Center will be joining us for two weeks. We will welcome Mrs. Rebecca Leavensworth on Monday March 30th. She will be practice teaching, which means she will be authorized to present lessons of my choice to individual as well as small groups of children under my guidance and observation.
Looking ahead: our next two classroom meetings are scheduled for April 14th and May 20th. We strongly encourage your attendance. We will also be holding another Classroom Social, keep an eye out for a date and theme announcement through SchoolCues.
Thank you for your support,
Miss Lauren and Ms. Yadira
