Wow! It is officially month three! I am so impressed by the progress the children are making socially, academically and emotionally. They are recognizing their environment as a close-knit family community.
The children enjoyed learning about the parts of the pumpkin, baking pumpkin seeds and sharing them last week. They also enjoyed discussing Diwali the Hindu festival of lights, looking at India on the map and pictures of how it’s celebrated.
I am almost finished meeting with all of you one-on-one, thank you for your patience and cooperation. It has been such a joy getting to know you and your children better.
Picture day was a success! We concluded the morning work period with a celebration of Dia de Los Muertos with Lower Elementary. This was dedicated to Dr. Maria Montessori. We spoke about the materials she contributed and her method of education. The children were fascinated to find out that Montessori was a scientist and her method is present around the world.
Veteran’s Day is this Tuesday. The children will have the opportunity to learn about this Holiday. The children will write and send letters to army bases thanking the soldiers and veterans for their service.
With Thanksgiving approaching, your child may bring in any books or artifacts to share with their friends regarding fall topics. Some good ideas are bringing in pictures of family and pets, sharing poems or songs, vegetables, artifacts reflecting their heritage, etc.
